Keeping these in mind, PAL@Springdale is experiential in nature and incorporates learning in a creative, fun and enjoyable way. The packages for the various modules are customised according to the needs and profile of our students. Applying the learner-centred approach to impart social-emotional skills within the context of the four domains, these school-based curriculum provides a wide range of learning experiences for students through a variety of pedagogical strategies such as cooperative learning, inquiry-based learning and reflective learning. Opportunities are created for students to apply the attitudes, skills and knowledge acquired during the lessons and learning journeys.
As we believe strongly that every teacher must be involved in character building, both Form Teachers (FT) and Co-Form Teachers (CFT) conduct the PAL lessons. All staff were also trained in facilitation skills to draw out the SE competencies in students during lessons.
At Springdale Primary, PAL domains have been renamed as Junior Sculptor for Visual Arts, Junior Artistes for Performing Arts, Junior Athletes for Sports and Junior Explorer for Outdoor Education.
Besides these domains, the school has also customised a school-initiated I Can Programme for our pupils. This programme seeks to impart important life skills to the pupils. They include modules such as ICT skills and collaboration skills.
